Alex Krycek Muse is written by
kayljay
Disclaimer: The character of Alex Krycek is a creation of Chris Carter. This journal in no way intends to infringe on any copyright laws. It is for personal entertainment only and no money is being made. It also has nothing to do with Nick Lea, the actor who played Alex so well. This is fiction people! If you think otherwise, you need the meds more than I do.
Author's Notes:
For those of you coming in after the the communities became public: A lot has happened to Alex since this journal started in July. It all can be read at
club_babylon,
sparrow_cove and
jamican_cove.
Alex's own description of his life is 'in character' at the bottom of the page. If you want they whys and wherefors of why my Alex muse comes to me this way, read the OOC (out of character) below. As for the physical description. He's in his late 30's early 40's (I have 1967 for LJ's Terms of Service and a guess at Alex's age. The birth month and day of actor Nick Lea, who played Alex, is listed but his year of birth was '62) He has dark brown hair and green eyes that border on hazel. He's around six feet tall and while he's not bulked up, there definitely muscle on him.
OOC: Many facets of Alex's personality, in the orignal show universe, were purposely left ambiguous to say the least. Every fan will give you a different take on what he 'truly' is. Opportunist, misunderstood, evil, pawn, protecting Mulder. I take the tack that Alex had need-to-know information on his "job" at the begining and basicaly knew what he would be doing. He saw it as protecting the human race.
If there's one thing Alex is not, it's stupid. Here was a man who was undercover in the FBI and fooling the most 'brilliant profiler the Bureau has ever seen'. Direct quote from the show. He was a chameleon of the best kind. Even if you think you know him, you don't, not really. Which is the allure and why I love writing him because the characterization was so broadly painted. In the 'bad universe' as I call the show's universe when it comes to Alex; he was killed toward the end of the series.
I've taken the concept that murder was actually a way for Alex to disappear. Until now. All of the people who had control over him are dead at the end of the series. Well, that's what I prefer to believe anyway. Mulder and Scully are off in Roswell until the next X-Files movie comes out. (And the planets must be in perfect alignment before that happens.)
So I've made him disillusioned. With no resources he doesn't stand a chance of holding off the alien invasion on his own. He's resigned himself that he and the other six billion or so people on the planet Earth will be at the mercy of the alien invasion at the end of December of 2012. Most will die or be used to breed more aliens. The why of this invasion was never stated. All we know was the government made a deal with the aliens to prevent immediate invasion when the Roswell 'UFO crash' happened in 1947. People have literally written chaper and verse on the circumstances and Alex's involvement with the whole project. But the show's creator was quite good at not making things look as they seem and nowhere was that more evident than with Alex.
I'm sure some fans will complain I've made him too friendly and compassionate. I gave up trying to argue with them years ago, not because I'm right, but because once you've stepped into the show's universe, so much of it is interpetation of the viewer. 'My' Alex is just that. Mine. Not any other fan writer's, not the Alex of the evil twisted genius creator Chris Carter. So for fans of the show reading the rp and don't like my characterization, they will be pointed to this page. The only person whose opinion means *anything* to me is Chris Carter's and Nick Lea's--the men who brought Alex to life and I don't expect to be getting any feedback in that area any time soon. So who exactly is 'my' Alex? The first journal entry Alex wrote. And Alex did write it even if it was 'my' Alex muse, because in the end, it's all about individual perception anyway.
From Alex's journal: July 24th, 2005 after first meeting Viggo.
IN:
Never done this before, putting my life down on paper. Line of work I was in, nothing was ever safely hidden. My past is over, I can't change it. It would be so easy to point the finger at someone else and say that I was too young to know better. I can't. I'm a big boy and I know where to put the blame. Too bad I didn't think when my gut warned me that everything wasn't quite what it seemed. The secret had to be kept. I knew that and I thought that silencing people who threatened to go public was the right thing to do. I was preventing mass panic, the possiblity of the invasion starting early, billions of people being killed. I was buying time in hopes the invasion could be prevented. Then I met Fox Mulder. They told me he was a danger and I believed them. My first mistake. Some of the men *in* the project were more dangerous to it than Mulder was. Working with him I soon found the line between murder in protection of the project and outright murder were suddenly a little too murky for my liking.
Someone who didn't know better would think I was a total loon writing about alien invasions. That it's real. The date is set. And there's not a damn thing I can do about it anymore. Seven more years. A man can do a lot of living in seven years. And I've got a lot of catching up to do.
Viggo suggested I do this. Writing it down. It was because of people like him that I fought so long and so hard. All for nothing.
He would have listened. Maybe not believed. I couldn't do that to him. Especially because of his daughter, Kathleen. How do you tell a man his daughter won't live to see seventeen? I hardly know this guy and I'm ready to make his ex disappear or at least make her life real complicated. If he asked for my help, I would do it.
Viggo. Is this man for real? I'm a total stranger and he's telling me about his daughter. He's so open and honest I want to return the favor. He's like an angel send down to save my fucking soul. He reminds me of Mulder.
*Snorts* Now I know I've had too much Stoli if I think anyone, anything can save me now.
